The local library building has been in a poor condition for some time in fact so bad I think there was some serious thought about closing it down. This was going on at a time when the city council are going to build a new super central library and tear down the not so old one ready for development, anyone who lives in Birmingham will know the huge controversy surrounding their plans. Myself I wonder if the council have thought this through the internet has changed study, research and information accessibility in a massive way and that accelerated change continues shouldn’t we be looking to provide resources on a micro level rather than some large central futuristic building, and therefore we serve the community better and make a huge saving of council funds |

I through out my old museum pieces but not before I had a good look and think back. I was backing up any required data from my old floppy discs and then dumping them in the bin. I found Photoshop ver 2.3 small enough to fit on 3 discs. Storage media in those days were 50p each so we always recycled old ones and here I have used an IBM LAN driver disc for data. There’s an Aldus Pagemaker (RIP) demo disc, Green discs were from a company in Cambridge who collected demo discs etc in bulk and sold them mail order as data discs for about 20p each. And the Testware disc is a copy of the Lotus clone “As Easy As” |
