My dads old washing machine kept on blowing the electric fuses and we found that the faulty part was no longer in production, as I arrived home I found out our washing machine had broken too and this was established as beyond economical repair. As we added up the cost a friend phoned “Do you know anyone who wants a washing machine”? We also remembered another old machine we could get our hands on. The next few days involved lifting shifting and fitting but then one of the replacements failed so we had to buy a one new one. It could have been worse. |

On the corner of Stoney Lane and Highgate Road used to stand the Lion and Lamp pub, it is sadly no longer a pub gutted out ready for the next tenant to turn it into yet another kebab takeaway, around the pub used to be little factories and the old back to back houses these have gone replaced by new houses. It seems as though the back of the pub has been stripped or even sheared away to leave just a small frontage, this is in keeping with the billboard next to it on the left of the picture, behind the billboard frontage again there is nothing. |
