Hit The Tree And Its Four Runs - Photo a Day Project

Hit The Tree And Its Four Runs - Photo a Day Project

I better post some out of sync cricket images otherwise it will be the end of the season and winter before I post them. This is Milford Hall Cricket ground in Staffordshire which as you can see has a tree on the playing area, it's an automatic 4 runs if you hit any part of the tree although that must create some discussion as to if the ball brushed the leaves or got very close to the roots, I would like to see a more imaginative Ground Rule applied something like batsman’s out if the fielder catches the ball with one hand off the tree, 6 runs if the ball gets lodged in the branches, or even back to the old street cricket we used to play as kids of 6 and out if you hit the, in those it was more critical as it generally applied to a neighbour’s garden and they would not let you retrieve the ball.
