On a grey, cold and damp March day two postmen stood out as the only colour I could see driving along the road, I had to stop and ask them for a photo. Don’t ask me which one is which because Jeff Evans and Roy Evans are two thirds of triplets, their brother used to work with them but moved to the Stafford post office.
It wasn’t until a few days afterwards that I realised I had met a Famous Stranger in Roy Evans the former Liverpool football manager so he is another in my Famous Strangers project of people who are not the famous person but share the name. When I was photographing people for the 100 Strangers project I found some of my models had famous names: Richard Burton, Paul Newman etc and I remembered one of my lecturers at Uni introduced himself as The Real Richard Burton the other is an imposter because Richard Burton the actor’s real name was Jenkins.
