Hungarian artist Adam Magyar is creating an image using the same technologies as that on the Olympic Finish Line, which captures 13000 slices of data a second recorded through a 1 pixel wide slit. The time and space slices are then placed next to one another to generate an image without perspective. This method is capable of recording movement only, with static objects and buildings appearing as stripes and lines. |
The huge image will be unveiled on Sunday 1st August and then will be on New Library of Birmingham Hoarding in Centenary Square, it will be there 8 weeks and be seen by around 2 million visitors. |
Everything had to be right to produce the image, no flash photography, no stopping on the line and no gaps because of stragglers, after three takes I was dangerously close to the time when my parking ticket ran out and after walking through the line I carried on running to the car, so I’m not sure if I’m on the final image. |

I’m always fascinated by interior walls that are exposed to the world as if the building has been sheared in half; we can see into the private soul of the building |
