A beautiful day with a blue sky full of plane activity, just after a week the European aviation industry was at a standstill because of the volcanic dust from Iceland.

The family firm L.H.Vale-Onslow (motors) Ltd. sell motorcycles, repair and sell parts and accessories, (all the properties in the photo belong to the company) the company was founded in 1928 by Len Vale-Onslow M.B.E He first rode a motor bike in 1908 at the age of eight and had his final ride at the age of 102 He died in 2004 aged 103

In later years, Len Vale-Onslow's presence in the business was centred on the restoration work he carried out for old bike enthusiast. Nominated as Britain's oldest working man in 1995, he refused a television appearance on the Kilroy show, saying there was too much work in the shop to take a day off. In the same year he was appointed MBE, a proud achievement for such a patriotic man; and made an appearance on This Is Your Life.
