Even though I would pass these signs every day I only recently started to investigate the directions and names, while I am aware that JR Tolkien lived locally in Hall Green Birmingham I am not a reader and therefore knew little more of the connections and I found the naming The Shire Country Park a little pretentious. I found out that what used to be called The Millstream Way (although again I never heard it called that), was renamed The Shire Country Park. The nature reserve is close to Tolkien’s childhood home and is said to have been the author’s inspiration for the home of the Hobbits in The Lord of the Rings. Sarehole Mill, which is at the other end of the walk features in Tolkien's The Hobbit. |

As soon as I met this great couple their personalities were saying “we are different and we should be the subject of your picture today”. As a couple they are so much together as one and seem very happy with life. Great |
