The Drawbridge Over The Canal

The Drawbridge Over The Canal

This is the drawbridge across the canal in Shirley Solihull, its best to avoid this route especially during the summer because when a canal boat comes along the traffic has to stop and the bridge is lifted. It only takes about five minutes but then you have to wait for the traffic to move over the single file bridge, there are alternative routes that don’t involve much of a detour so it’s not worth taking a chance. Because the canal is frozen there’s no boat movement on the canal.

I have thought about photographing this spot for some time, but somehow it has never worked, I tried as boats went under the bridge and traffic goes over but although it sounds like a great idea there was nothing worth posting on A Photo a Day Everyday.

This time last year I commented on the mixed messages from supermarkets with their green promotions, and carrier bag policies but their insistence on using excessive packaging with products
