Sun rise after a night of activity on the water

Take a photo every day in 2009

So I’m walking my dogs at the crazy hour of 5am and I came across this angler who was setting up yesterday afternoon when I was walking round the park. All night he’s been there with little sleep because the wildlife had been disturbed, and the bats flew over his rods and activated the alarm. We talked for about an hour about trying to catch the big carp fish he had caught two during the night (photographed them and let them loose for someone else to catch) in fact he had caught a 36lber about 10 minutes before I arrived, now that would have been a photograph of the day.

Today at the Ashes Test Match

As I started this blog over half way into 2009 here’s a look at a previous Photo A Day Every Day, in fact I will work backwards to day one.

England versus Australia at Edgbaston, 3rd Test Match, Day 5.
After 4 days of rain interrupted play the only possible results achievable are a win for England (to go 2 up in the series) or Australia to play for a draw. So I queued for tickets at 8am with my son. I had many photos to choose for my shot of the day. Sports photography is very enlightening and particularly photos of baseball pitchers and cricket bowlers whom push their bodies into positions that are never apparent when watching with naked eye at speed. Here England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson gets ready to deliver the ball. On a technical note I considered cropping to just focus on the bowler and batsman but I think this view has the impact. Your thoughts please?
